What is the #1 Nutrient for Weight Loss

You may be thinking its protein, and if you are then you’re wrong.

In reality, a protein shake doesn’t contain any of the most important nutrient for weight loss.

And that nutrient is….

FIBER

The truth is that increasing your fiber intake by just 6 grams a day is enough to start losing weight.

Fiber fills you up, helping you eat less calories. It may even help you eliminate extra bad calories. It also helps control blood sugar and appetite.

The American Dietetic Association recommends 25-35 grams of fiber per day, but most Americans only actually consume 14.

Here are a few ways to increase your fiber intake:
•    Blend smoothies/protein drinks with raw nuts
•    Add vegetables into your omelet
•    Snack on fruit in between meals
•    Snack on raw nuts such as almonds

Now I’ve heard so called experts attack fruit consumption because they contain sugar. Let me tell you though, no one is fat from eating fruit.

The benefits from fruit (fiber, water) far outweigh the negatives associated with sugar consumption. You can consume a large volume of fruits and vegetables and still achieve a low calorie count. This is why they are so crucial to your nutrition. In fact fruits, vegetables, and raw nuts are going to be your foundation for fat loss.

But as important as fiber is to your diet, there is still an important component that you need to incorporate…

Accountability

And it is the most important thing you can do. This is seriously important here. It has been proven that just keeping a food journal will help you lose weight. You must learn to hold yourself accountable for what you put into your body.

I personally prefer Lance Armstrong’s MyPlate software. Just Google it and you’ll find it. I’ve also heard good things about FitDay.com

Your nutrition is the most important element to your weight loss efforts. It is absolutely 100% crucial if you ever want to see 6 – pack abs.

You must follow a healthy and sustainable nutrition program. This is the quickest way to lose weight, literally helping overnight.

So what is the simplest way to do this?

Stay away from non-real food…

In other words ”Eat food, not too much, mostly plants.”

Your focus should be on real, one ingredient foods. It is important to avoid processed foods as well as too many animal products – these will kill your calorie totals.

The key here is that you have a high volume, low calorie diet. This keeps you full and satisfied much longer, preventing you from binging.

The processed foods of our “Western Diet” are the absolute worst and should be avoided at all costs. These typically consist of anything boxed or bagged as well as anything containing hydrogenated oils (trans fats).

Processed carbohydrates generally provide too many calories and sugar, often resulting in hunger and fatigue.

This is where the importance of having accountability for your food intake comes into play. You must count your calories in some manner. Another simple way to lose weight quickly is to eliminate all liquid calories.

Soda, fruit juices, and alcohol are a killer on your calorie count. Replace these beverages with Green Tea and lots of water. In fact you should drink 12 cups of water per day.

Now sugar can be tricky to identify, so here are the most common names it hides under:

Corn Sweetener; Corn syrup, or corn syrup solids; Dehydrated Cane Juice; Dextrin; Dextrose; Fructose; Fruit Juice Concentrate; Glucose; High Fructose Corn Syrup; Honey; Invert Sugar; Lactose; Maltodextrin; Malt syrup; Maltose; Maple syrup; Molasses; Raw sugar; Rice Syrup; Saccharose; Sorghum or sorghum syrup; Sucrose; Syrup; Treacle; Turbinado Sugar; Xylose.

Just remember that your body doesn’t care what it is called, it is still sugar and your body will treat it as such.

This trick alone will help you lose weight in a short amount of time.

The next step would be to add some weight lifting programs to your diet. Exercise is important, but you also want to be focused on the “right kind” of exercise. You don’t want to waste your time with cardio.
